Create a Podcast - #20
This is Step #20 for 30 Days to Starting a Niche Business. Each of the steps to creating a niche business will be documented in more detail.
While I use the term “create a podcast” for this step, it used to be “create a CD”. But since everyone wants everything on demand and podcast are a much more efficient medium (ie: quick and cheap), that’s changed.
Regardless, the intention is to create an audio file that your prospects can listen to where they want, when they want.
Sales Presentation on Audio
All you’re really doing with this task is putting a sales presentation down on audio. Some people learn better visually, while others prefer audio. Some people have more time to hear what you have to say while driving in the car than to read it on the computer.
In one of the previous steps, you were supposed to write the ad copy for marketing pieces. One of the marketing pieces you should have written was a sales letter - something that describes the product you are selling with all of the benefits and features. Take that sales presentation and put it on audio.
How to Record Your Sales Presentation
You can always record the audio on your computer. I’ve done that before and wasn’t thrilled with the quality. I know of other business owners who went to a local recording studio and recorded the script that way. The high quality presentation provides a better image of your company and assures the prospect of the ability of your company.
You can also hire someone to record the script. There are a few good websites on which you can post your script and get a bid on the cost to produce it:
What to Do with the Podcast
The purpose of the Podcast is to be just one more contact in your follow-up sequence for prospects. There are a variety of ways that you can distribute it to your prospects:
- Put the Podcast on your website and send the link to your prospects and/or newsletter subscribers
- Burn the audio onto a CD and mail it to your prospects. This makes it very easy for them to listen to it in the car.
If you make the Podcast informative, you could post it on sites as a way to generate new leads. People would hear it, find it informative, and then come to your site to hear more about what you have to offer. All you’re really doing is finding just one more way to reach existing prospects and potential prospects.
