The “Personal Risks” of Not Being a Lazy Business Owner

If you are in a job which is not making you enjoy every moment of it (or at least most of the moments which you have!) then you are probably facing many risks that may not cost you now…but are likely to influence the DNA of your work style. In fact, these risks are mostly personal and will continue to sow the seed of unhappiness but it will be too late and before you know it….you would have come to nearly the end of your working life. Here are some risks which we think are likely to figure in your personal SWOT analysis when you REALLY start thinking and being a Lazy Business Owner.

a) Do you like the people you work with? Most likely not and thus there is very little you learn from them. A boss who does not know anything about motivation is likely to get any respect from you and colleagues with irritating habits are likely to have very little to with your learning procedure.

b) Are your personal goals and objective aligned with those of the company’s? If not, then the resultant force (of efforts being focused on opposite direction) is likely to result in naught. With the risk of sounding highly negative, this is something which many people face and that is why they leave employment with certain firms, sometimes for lower pay packages! Ethics continues to be an important part of the agenda between the business you work for and your own personal level.

c) In the rat race of professional growth, we tend to forget that we have one life. Delayed gratification might be a good concept in some cases, but working without truly enjoying it is like lying to yourself (and we all know that we have had this moment sometime or the other!) . This is a moment which you make a decision to either walk away and experiment being a Lazy Owner, or keep up with the grind.

This has been very interestingly put in the book The Monk and the Riddle (pg 154) which talks about having been through life waiting to personal joy at a later date! Now, had the writer thought like that, he would have never bought himself (and so many others) true joy by writing the book.

Being a Lazy Business Owner protects you from these personal risks but what you really need to realize are that these risks are real and not something which you feel momentarily when you are at the end of a tiring day. Consider the fact that we spend more than half our lifetimes at the work place and that does warrant that we have a happy go at it. The Lazy Business Owner concept might not be unique…you can have your own method in this madness and choose something which saves you from spending this lifetime working in a job which does not give you true happiness. After all, with so many people appreciating what The Monk had to say does mean that many of us are facing these personal risks of not being a Lazy Business Owner!
